Antonio Stradivari is well known all over the world as the greatest craftsman of bowed string instruments. However, not so many people know that he was also a skilfull creator of other instruments as well as bows, and he took great care in building accessories, instrument cases and their trimmings looking after the smallest details. Evidence of all that are the exhibits shown in the Stradivari Museum in Cremona, which give a complete image of a violinmaker, so important yet attentive to all details concerning his activity. This publication, dedicated to Stradivari's lesser known production, is meant to explain the importance and the history of the guitar, an instrument well appreciated in the social and musical background of that period, to which many violinmakers of the time paid attention, building highly valued instruments.
